FAQs
What makes camp ridgedale unique?
1
Camp Ridgedale is built around three core priorities: meaningful play, a safe and caring environment, and helping every child know they are deeply loved by God. Campers experience a balance of structured activities, free play, relationship-building, and faith development in age-appropriate and engaging ways. Our weekly themes, hands-on learning, and community-centered atmosphere create a joyful environment where children grow socially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually.
how does camp ridgedale keep campers safe?
2
Campers are supervised at all times with a 1:10 staff-to-camper ratio. All staff are CPR, First Aid, and AED certified. Secure check-in and pick-up procedures ensure that only authorized adults with ID may pick up campers.
what does a typical camp day look like?
3
Each day is thoughtfully structured to provide consistency, fun, and growth. Campers participate in cabin time, group assemblies, themed activity rotations (such as crafts, recreation, science experiments, and swimming), devotion times, and free play. Wednesdays typically include field trips or special on-campus experiences, and Fridays feature fun, themed celebration events that help campers end the week on a high note.
how is faith included in the camp experinece?
4
Faith is woven naturally throughout each day in age-appropriate and encouraging ways. Campers participate in morning assemblies with worship, games, and Bible teaching, as well as small-group cabin devotions and service-focused “Mission Moments.” These experiences help children explore faith through relationships, creativity, and hands-on learning rather than lecture-based instruction.
What should my child bring to camp?
5
Campers should bring a packed lunch, snack, labeled water bottle, swimsuit, towel, change of clothes, sunscreen spray, and closed-toed shoes. Electronics and toys should stay at home to help campers stay engaged and connected.
How are health needs and allergies handled?
6
Food sharing is not allowed to protect campers with allergies. Medications must be properly labeled and are administered only by trained staff. Parents are contacted immediately if a camper becomes sick or injured.
what is the counselor-in-training (cIT) program?
7
The CIT Program is designed for students who have aged out of the camper program and are ready to grow as leaders. CITs receive daily leadership training, mentorship from experienced counselors, and hands-on opportunities to help lead activities and support younger campers. The program helps teens build confidence, communication skills, and responsibility while still enjoying the fun and community of camp. Participants receive volunteer hour documentation, a completion certificate, and a letter of recommendation.
will CIT participants still get to enjoy camp activities?
8
Yes! CITs continue to participate in field trips, themed events, swim time, and camp traditions while gaining leadership experience and building confidence.
what is the CIT Jr. program?
The CIT Jr. Program is designed for middle school students who are ready to begin developing leadership skills while still experiencing traditional camp activities. CIT Jr. participants engage in age-appropriate training, mentorship, and opportunities to help lead certain activities. This program bridges the gap between camper and full CIT leadership while maintaining plenty of fun and social engagement.
